Congratulations to Bruce Levine, PhD on Receiving the 2023 ASGCT Jerry Mendell Award for Translational Science

  

ISCT would like to extend its congratulations to Bruce Levine, Ph.D., ISCT Past President, on receiving the 2023 ASGCT Jerry Mendell Award for Translational Science. The Jerry Mendell Award for Translational Science recognizes those who have dedicated extensive work to bring gene and cell therapies to clinical trials.

Dr. Levine is recognized for this award as a co-inventor of several cell and gene innovations, namely the first FDA-approved gene therapy, Kymriah®, licensed to Novartis. His first-in-human adoptive immunotherapy trials include the first use of a lentiviral vector, the first infusions of gene-edited cells, and the first use of lentivirally modified cells to treat cancer. Dr. Levine is co-inventor on 30 issued U.S. patents and co-author of more than 200 manuscripts and book chapters with a Google Scholar citation h-index of 103. He's also a co-founder of Tmunity Therapeutics and Capstan Therapeutics, both spinouts of the University of Pennsylvania.
