ISCT 2023 Paris – Exosomes Translation Event” aims to provide the latest scientific understanding of Extracellular Vesicle (EV) biology that have critical relevance to the translation of EVs into clinical products.

To maximize EVs' therapeutic benefits, administering them at the right time and place is crucial to elicitation of a desired response from the relevant cell types. It is broadly assumed that EVs have the potential to deliver a cell-specific EV cargo to specific recipient cells. After efficient homing to their target cells, EVs are thought to be effectively internalized to successfully delivery their cargo to the cytosol. However, this model is increasingly challenged. At this Exosomes Translation Event, recent research will be highlighted comprising EV-trafficking, homing, EV-mediated signaling as well as endosomal uptake, endosomal escape machineries and luminal cargo delivery. The up to date understanding of these processes has critical implications for the development of robust clinical products from native and engineered EVs.
