JACIE launched a new e-learning program aimed at the Transplant Centers either planning to apply or already in the accreditation process on October 20th, 2023. This course is specifically designed for centers who are starting, or already on, their JACIE accreditation journey - whether this be for the first or fifth time. Information is presented in four separate online modules (pre-inspection, inspection, post-inspection, and after accreditation), which are available to work through at any time. This course aims to help all staff working in centers feel more confident in preparing for and undergoing the JACIE Inspection by addressing many of the frequently asked questions. The modules present information in a variety of engaging formats, including presentations from experienced JACIE Quality Management Committee members as well as JACIE Accreditation Coordinators.
Figure 1. Development of the Centre E-learning Program
Figure 1 outlines the steps taken to develop the e-learning program. E-learning department supported the JACIE team following the initial request by reviewing the materials available and developing the outline of the course consulting the accreditation co-ordinators and the members of the Quality Management Committee (QMC). The materials were then developed and subsequently reviewed by the QMC and the Accreditation Co-ordinators as well as the Dutch Haematology Quality Management group for accuracy and usability. Finally, we worked with the Communications and Marketing teams to ensure that the course is widely available and accessible.
The e-learning course is open access and we hope that it will be helpful for all staff working in the transplant programme from the Programme Directors to nurses and quality managers from clinical, collection and processing teams. This programme is also a resource that could be used to explain the accreditation process to hospital administrators to help them to understand the requirements of the Standards and how they support the day-to-day work in the transplant programme.
The course is accessible through the EBMT e-learning platform at: https://www.ebmt.org/jacie-accreditation-e-course-centres (Figure 2)

JACIE is hoping to complement this e-learning course with regular online ‘drop-in’ sessions from January 2024.
