Here in the United States the end of March ushers in a nation-wide university basketball single-elimination tournament known as “March Madness”. Along with being an exciting opportunity to showcase amazing student athlete talent, and for students and alumnae to engage in enthusiastic fanfare, this tournament is notorious for its “upsets” – shocking sub-par performances of top seed teams, and the emergence of a tournament “Cinderella” who becomes a fan favorite.
