ISCT Announces Gabrielle O'Sullivan, PhD as next Chief Regulatory Officer

  

June 1, 2026 – The International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Gabrielle O'Sullivan, PhD, as the new ISCT Chief Regulatory Officer, effective June 1st, 2026 through December 31, 2028.

Dr. O'Sullivan is an eminent leader in biosafety and public health, bringing more than 20 years of experience across immunology, genetics and public health education, epidemiology, public health and ethics and biosafety in gene technology. As Executive Officer of the Institutional Biosafety Committee at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and as a committee member in the Gene Technology Technical Advisory Committee and the Gene Technology Ethics & Community Consultative Committee of the Australian Department of Health, Dr. O'Sullivan brings a strategic perspective to the regulatory and ethics space, including extensive experience in science-based risk communication and risk assessment of organisms, microorganisms and gene technology.

Within ISCT, Dr. O'Sullivan has been a driving force behind the Society's global regulatory leadership in cell and gene therapy. Most recently serving as Co-Chair of the Australia & New Zealand Legal & Regulatory Affairs Committee, she has also held influential roles on the ISCT Global Regulatory Task Force and Strategic Advisory Council. Through these appointments, she has helped shape ISCT's global regulatory engagement strategy and represented the Society in collaborations with the World Health Organization and regulatory agencies across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia, South and Central America, and Australia and New Zealand.

Over more than a decade of dedicated volunteer service to the Society, Dr. O'Sullivan has consistently brought strategic insight and regulatory expertise that have strengthened ISCT's position as a global leader advancing safe, ethical, and patient-focused cell and gene therapy translation.

As Chief Regulatory Officer, Dr. O'Sullivan will lead the strategic direction of ISCT's regulatory pillar, further advancing the Society's role as a leading convening authority in global regulatory affairs for cell and gene therapies. Her leadership will help deepen ISCT's collaborations with regulatory agencies worldwide while ensuring the Society remains at the forefront of shaping frameworks that accelerate responsible innovation and patient access to advanced therapies globally.
