In honour of the late Dr. Darwin J. Prockop, ISCT has established the Dr. Darwin J. Prockop Early Stage Professional Scholarship Fund, a tribute to the enduring legacy of an extraordinary mentor and leader in the field of Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT). 

REMEMBERING A VISIONARY MENTOR

Dr. Darwin J. Prockop, a luminary in CGT, dedicated his life to pioneering cell research and nurturing the next generation of aspiring scientists. His unwavering commitment to excellence and the pursuit of knowledge has left an indelible mark on the field. Darwin was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine. He was a driving force in the study of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and became one of the key investigators establishing the field MSCs. Beyond his own discoveries, he touched the lives of so many people in the field. He had an infectious passion for science and was an inspiration to all. As we honor his memory, we strive to continue his work by fostering the development of emerging CGT professionals.
