ISCT ESP Leadership Development Program
From the global ISCT Early Stage Professionals (ESPs) committee to regional ESP subcommittees, 2023 was definitely a busy and riveting year for the ESPs. Here is a recap of the Telegraft submissions throughout the year – a testament to the hard work, commitment and dedication of all ISCT ESPs.
First, we were introduced to the ESP subcommittees from Asia and Australia. In this feature written by Sudipto Bari, PhD, and Chaiyong Koaykul, PhD, co-chairs of the ISCT Asia Regional ESP Subcommittee, they presented the members of the subcommittee representing several countries withing the region. They also shared the goals of the subcommittee to enhance engagement and foster increased collaboration between ESP members both within and outside Asia.
Similarly, the co-chairs for the ISCT Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Regional ESP subcommittee, Madison Paton, PhD, and Jessica Sue BSc, MHSM, highlighted the progress made by the region after one year of establishment, including the development of a purpose statement and the expansion of the subcommittee to eight members from across the ANZ region.
In June, the global ISCT ESP committee launched another edition of the Workforce Survey. Now in its fourth year, this survey hopes to provide critical data on the recent trends in the Cell and gene therapy sector. While previous surveys had respondents mostly from the North America region, 2023 survey aimed to target ISCT members in other parts of the world to truly reflect the diversity and global nature of ISCT.
ISCT ESPs also participated and engaged at the ISCT 2023 annual meeting in Paris and the regional meetings in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and North America, with featured roundtables and specially curated sessions. Particularly, the ANZ ESP regional subcommittee curated a two-part session featuring the best ESP abstract submissions and a panel discussion on mentorship. Although 2023 was a memorable year, we look forward with enthusiastic optimism to an even better 2024 for the ISCT Early Stage Professionals.
